MOL upgrades containership service between Vietnam and Japan

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is opening a new route called JTV that will provide direct links between Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam and major ports in Japan. The service will start on December 4, 2006.
The new JTV service will be operated through a space charter with Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (OOCL). Along with its CBC service, MOL announced that it will offer two weekly direct services from Ho Chi Minh City to Japan, as well as connections to Osaka and Kobe.

The company said that the move is part of its plans to enhance containerized service in the booming intra-Asia cargo trade.
